I think that the specification of instructional objectives lead to student success and is a desirable teaching tool. Instructional goals are tools that we can use to make sure that we are reaching our goals. The objectives are not meant to restrict creativity, but rather to ensure focus on learning for both the teacher and students.
I think instructional objectives are necessary to align the curriculum with the instruction. Objectives are the basis for instruction and student achievement. If objectives are too BROAD, they will be vague and will not serve as a model for instruction or assessment of mastery. Broad objectives are better labeled as “goals.” If objectives are too NARROW, they become disconnected tasks and do not provide the scope for learning. As Ashley stated, these objectives help to focus the teaching and the leaerning.
I also agree. Instructional goals should be used to align the curriculum with instruction. Instructional objectives ensure that learning is focused clearly enough that both students and teacher know what is going on. Objectives need to be used so that in any grade level learning can be objectively measured.
I think it is important to have instructional objectives to keep all teachers working towards the same outcome. They provide a focus and direction for teaching of lessons...helps ensure that all students are receiving the same information, but doesn't mean it has to be delivered in the same manner. That is where the individual teachers' creativity comes in to play.
We should have instructional objectives to keep focus in the classroom. To make sure that each student will be getting the same information and learning opportunities. However, it is important to differentiate for particular subgroups of students.
Specification of instructional objectives is important because it helps set a vision for the school community regarding instructional practices. However, I believe that it should be the objectives that are to be specific and not the methodology. Educators still need some degree of autonomy in the classroom and they still need to feel independent enough in the classroom to take certain instructional risks.
I believe the specification of instructional objectives is important because it gives the blueprint from which to teach. It does not automatically design each teacher's lessons by any stretch, but it does give them a goal to reach, and it ensures that they are teaching everything that needs to be taught. It's merely a matter of how to get there.
I have to agree with the comments thus far, specification of instructional objectives are a desirable teaching tool. They are like the small towns on a road map, helping to keep you on course toward your final destination (goal). What we must keep in mind is that the trip itself is what we should focus on, with rich instruction ocurring between the "towns" on the map.
Instructional objectives are desirable teaching tools. They help guide the instructional process to ensure that goals are being met as well as ensuring specified time frames are being followed. This also allows for development of curriculum maps with the use of the objectives and time. MAps should then be reviewed to focus on weak areas for student success.
I agree with the comments. Instructional objectives are needed in the classroom to ensure that the teacher is teaching what is needed. However, teachers are allowed to use creativity when developing lesson plans.
I think that instructional objectives are necessary to align instruction with curriculum. Objectives also help define in measureable terms when instructional goals are achieved. Having instructional objectives does not mean teachers can't be creative in how they teach them. They are just minimal competencies that indicate students have mastered a particular objective.
I also agree instructional objectives are needed. It is important to align curriculum goals and objectives with instructional goals and objectives. Instructional objectives are a guide for teachers and also a way for young and experienced teachers to stay focused on what needs to be taught.
I think instructional objectives are necessary to align the curriculum with the instruction. The objectives help align, however they do not restrict teachers in their ability to adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of all learners.
Much like is mentioned above, I too agree that instructional objective are necessary. I really don't see how you can maintain consistency and keep equality between schools if the objectives disappear.
Instructional objectives are essential for many reason. From an administrative viewpoint, I want to clearly see where my teachers are going with their daily lessons. As I do a walk through I expect to see activities in the classroom that match daily instructional objectives.
Also, I think these objectives are the guiding source behind teachers planning.

I believe that instructional objectives are an essential teaching tool. Without them there is no generalized curricular guide for everyone to follow.
